QUARTERBACKS

Drafttek Live Positional Rankings

The Quarterback starts virtually every offensive play. His responsibilities include:

1) Calling the formation, play and snap count in the huddle prior to every play
2) Reading the defensive alignment at the line of scrimmage, calling an audible to change the play if necessary
3) Taking the snap from center, handing or pitching the ball on running plays; or going through reads and passing the ball to the open receiver.

One Quarterback prospect may be preferred over another based upon the following factors:

A. Prevailing offensive philosophy. West Coast passing scheme (multiple reads, quick release of ball); running attack with play-action. Longer patterns require size and stronger arm
B. Opponent's defensive philosophy. Divisional foes may be strong up front, blitz frequently, possess "shut-down" DB's.
C. Location/Weather: Indoor vs. Outdoor? Is your location (or divisional opponents) susceptible to high winds and harsh weather? A Southern California bred QB may not be prepared for Buffalo or Green Bay.

09/10/11/12 NFL drafts

All picks, 1 page! Drafttek prepared an internal-use spreadsheet for its analysts, who were tired of sifting through page after page to find historical draft picks. They said "put it online for our readers!" This resource allows fans to find all drafted players from the 2009-2012 drafts - side by side all on the same page.
