SEA g DEN (R Wilson)
I was halfway through a comment on Jalen Carter when Devon Witherspoon was announced as the Seahawks' first selection. There were some rumors leading up to the draft that Seattle really liked the former Illini Corner and wouldn't be afraid to nab him early if they had to. Even with that, this feels like a shock. This is the highest selection John Schneider and Pete Carroll have ever used on a secondary player.
Let's imagine this though: Devon Witherspoon and Tariq Woolen on the outside and Coby Bryant at nickel. That's a potentially stifling unit that sounds even better than what the Legion of Boom had - in terms of talent.
Was this the most pressing need? Probably not. But when you pick high it's imperative to get as much talent as possible. Teams had a passer rating of 25.3 when targeting Witherspoon in 2022. If Pete Carroll sees him as a good defensive back, then I believe him.

With their second pick of the night, Seattle addresses the other side of the passing game and takes the first WR of the draft. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are bona fide stars and playmakers, but the third receiver spot was in need of upgrading and it's a passing league.
Jaxon missed most of the 2022 season due to a hamstring injury, but during his sophomore season he tore up the Big Ten with 1606 yards and 9 touchdowns. Doing a significant amount of damage lining up in the slot, Jaxon easily slides right into the receiving core with a defined role. An offense with playmakers in Metcalf, Lockett, and Kenneth Walker III should have Geno Smith salivating.
The Seahawks still have multiple picks tomorrow and could make more splash plays in this draft.

The Seahawks added pass rushing help with their first Day 2 pick. Hall was a team captain at Auburn and harassed opposing offenses with his power rush to the tune of 19.5 career sacks. Not to mention he's got some giddy up in him as he posted a 4.55 40-yard dash at the Combine. This is an intriguing prospect to be excited about for the evolving defense.

Seattle entered the draft with just two RBs on the roster and needed someone to spell last year's RD2 pick; Kenneth Walker III. Charbonnet toted the rock for 7 yards per carry in 2022 and ended with a total of 1359 yards while adding 14 touchdowns - career numbers of 3346 yards and 39 scores. This offense is looking fun and explosive.

SEAHAWKS HISTORICAL DRAFT PICKS
Reach/Value (R/V) Explained
The difference between where a player is selected in the NFL draft versus where the player was listed on the final Drafttek Big Board for the season in question.Example: A player who was listed at #50 on the Big Board and was selected at #35 will be a "Reach" of -15. Alternately, a player listed at #35 on the Big Board who was selected at #50 is a +15 "Value".
Simply put: a positive number is a Value pick, a negative number is a Reach.
